La Levadura Gallery in La Roma

The La Roma neighborhood in Mexico D.F. has some of the most chic and eclectic restaurants and galleries in the city. Hidden in tiny alcoves and basements of hundred year old houses, culturally sophisticated young people converse over cocktails while discussing which enigmatic art collective has a the new expo.

This month, the boutique restaurant and gallery La Levadura is hosting FOTOSEPTIEMBRE, a photographic project sponsored by Centro de la Imagen. CI is an off-shoot of the National Center for the Arts and the largest government sponsored venture in the Americas dedicated to the investigation and proliferation of photography.

The Levadura Gallery is located on Tonola 23 in the colonia La Roma, between Avenida Insurgentes and Durango. Take the Metrobus to the Durango stop and walk east into La Roma. Turn left on the first street, past the hostel. Levadura is open from 12pm till 12 midnight and serves gourmet Mediterranean and Mexican fusion cuisine. The bar offers top-notch drink specialties and excellent pizzas.

Intl Urban Anthropology

Mezclada Industries is an urban anthropology project that blends multicultural artistry with diverse urban lifestyles. We are dedicated to promoting creative individuals who work in all types of media, generating a transnational industry of art. In addition to an online magazine, we distribute our artist´s designs in boutique stores in Mexico and coming soon through our online store. The Project collaborates with designers, writers and promoters throughout Mexico and the Americas, uniting us as a collective people without borders. Mezclada is created by and intended to encourage people of mixed cultures to celebrate their unique life experience through art.
